What is Included in the Retreat Price ?
A welcome reception with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be held at the villa Sunday afternoon between 4 pm and 6 pm so you can meet Dr. Szeles and the other couples in your group.
Snacks during the morning and afternoon sessions and a light lunch will be provided at the villa.
Local transportation from and to your accommodation in Best Bay is included in the price. If you stay in West End or further away, you will need to arrange for your transportation.
What is not Included ?
Travel to Roatan, transportation from/to the airport, accommodation and meals are not included in the Retreat price and are the participants’ responsibility.
We can assist with taxi reservation at the Roatan International Airport for $30 per couple each way.
Location
The Retreat is held in West Bay home of the stunning white sandy beach of the same name. Here the Mesoamerican reef kisses the sandy shore providing endless snorkeling opportunities for the enthusiasts right from the beach.
As the hearth of the Roatan tourism industry West Bay offers a wide selection of accommodation and numerous restaurants, bars and coffee shops right on the beach. Of course, due to its western looking location the sunsets are truly amazing in West Bay.
The villa is a 10-15 minutes stroll from most hotels or vacation rentals in West Bay. Transportation from and to your accommodation in West Bay is included in the Retreat price if you do not feel walking after your morning coffee, breakfast or stroll on the beach.
West End is a small fishing village along the shore and is the dive center and the nightlife capital of Roatan. It is a 10 min taxi ride or a 15-25 minutes water-taxi ride from West Bay. It offers it’s own selection of accommodation and even broader selection of restaurants, bars, bakeries and coffee shops.
If you prefer quiet evenings and dinner with a beautiful sunset, you probably want to book your accommodation in West Bay. If you are into the bar scene, music and dancing you may want to stay in West End.
There are a number of excellent accommodations and restaurants along the beaches between West Bay and West End.
There are numerous resorts, hotels and vacation rentals further away from the retreat venue and the choice is yours. However, these require a longer drive so you need to plan accordingly.
Travel
There are numerous direct flights to Roatan from the US and Canada. Saturday is the main travel day when flight arrive and depart to Atlanta (Delta), Miami (American), Houston (United), Toronto (Westjet). American and United have daily flights to the island and extending your stay to combine with vacation is straightforward.
Unless you prefer to rent a car, we can arrange for a taxi transfer between the airport and your accommodation. The cost is $30 each way for two passengers.
Accommodation
We recommend you book your accommodation in the West Bay – West End area. West End is 10-15 min taxi ride from the Retreat venue. If you stay in West Bay you can take a leisurely walk to the villa or we will pick you up at your accommodation free of charge.
You can use any of the booking sites to reserve your accommodation on the island (Tripadvisor, Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb, VRBO, etc). Sometimes you may find better pricing booking directly with the accommodation or a local rental agency like Island House Rentals.
Places to Eat
There are many great restaurants in the West Bay and West End area.
They are only a leisurely stroll, a 10 min taxi ride, or a 15 min water taxi ride from your accommodation.
If you are more adventurous there are many good local and international restaurants scattered all around the island.
